Cubo di Rubik

Layers Method

📖 Notation Legend

The letters indicate which face of the cube you need to rotate by 90 degrees (a quarter turn).

Imagine looking directly at the indicated face.

R = Right
Rotate the right side upwards.
L = Left
Rotate the left side downwards.
U = Up
Rotate the top layer to the left.
F = Front
Rotate the front face clockwise.
B = Bottom
Rotate the bottom face clockwise.
‘ (Apostrophe) = Counter-Clockwise
Example: R’ means rotating the right side downwards.
2 (Number) = 180 Degrees
Example: U2 means performing two clicks (half a turn).

Key Moves

The “Sexy Move”

CORE ALGORITHM

The fundamental building block. Used to insert white corners and orient yellow ones.

R U R' U'

Insert Right

SECOND LAYER

Moves an edge from the top layer into the bottom-right slot.

U R U' R' U' F' U F

Insert Left

SECOND LAYER

The exact mirror of the previous move. Inserts the edge into the left slot.

U' L' U L U F U' F'

Flip Edge

SECOND LAYER

The edge is in the right place but flipped. This move flips it in position.

R U2 R' U R U2 R' U F' U' F

Yellow Cross (F + Sexy Move + F’)

LAST LAYER

Creates the yellow cross on the top face without disturbing the first two layers.

F R U R' U' F'

Orient Edges (Sune)

LAST LAYER

Aligns the edges of the yellow cross with the side face centers.

R U R' U R U2 R'

Position Corners (Niklas)

2a.:
2b.:
LAST LAYER

Moves the corners to their correct positions (it doesn’t matter if they are still rotated incorrectly).

This move and its inverse leave one corner fixed and move the other 3 counter-clockwise or clockwise, respectively.

1. With all corners in the wrong place, start with the direct move from a random orientation, but with the yellow face on top, to position one in the correct spot; if a corner is already in the correct spot, skip directly to step 2a or 2b.

2a. With the direct move, position the correct corner that will remain fixed (indicated in green) in UFR, the others will rotate counter-clockwise (cube 1).

2b. With the inverse move, position the correct corner that will remain fixed (indicated in green) in UFL, the others will rotate clockwise (cube 2).

Direct: U R U' L' U R' U' L Inverse: U' L' U R U' L U R'

Final Corner Orientation

LAST LAYER

Upside Down: Hold the white face on top. Position a yellow corner to rotate in the bottom-right (FRD) slot.

Perform the Sexy Move until the yellow side faces down. Then rotate only the bottom layer to bring the next yellow corner into place.
