AdBlock A Cancer for the Web

The title is deliberately provocative; in fact, in this article I express my personal point of view, but I must say that I have spoken with several people who more or less think like me.
I agree with all of you, AdBlock lovers and otherwise, that certain sites are almost unusable due to the insistent presence of advertisements, banners, ads, popups and whatnot… The most hateful ones are those where video or audio are used as an advertising message that start automatically when you least expect it… Maybe with a zillion browser tabs open, at a certain point you hear a voice praising easy money or methods to enlarge your *** or to find safe s*x, and no, not in the sense of “protected”, but in the sense of “sure to have it” !!
In this situation, Chrome comes to our aid by showing a small icon next to the title of the tab that is playing audio, as shown in the image below, and we can easily stop the automatic playback.

In any case, however, it is annoying and could push many to opt for AdBlock, and I too have sometimes thought about it.
After this introduction, then why am I convinced that AdBlock is a problem for the web? Simply put, many sites sustain themselves with advertisements and therefore, without revenue, the desire to update the site and maintain it fades away. Sometimes with ads you can barely amortize a part of the domain costs, or, in highly visited sites, you can even earn money to reinvest in new articles, time to dedicate to improving the site and providing an ever-better service! In practice, the “annoying” ads allow us to have interesting and constantly updated content to read and consult.
But let me explain better, if I can.
